how can I let people know about my diploma in hypnotherapy?
I want to advertise my diploma in clinical hypnotherapy to anyone who is interested in learning how to use hypnotherapy to help people with their problems. My course is validated by the General Hypnotherapy Register, graduates can become members of the GHR and practice as a professional hypnotherapist
Hi Philip
People won’t be interested in your diploma. They will be interested in whether you are any good. If you tell them you just got a diploma they will most likely assume you aren’t.
You are going to face the dilemma of all new entrants to the profession; you are no good to anyone without experience and you can’t get the experience while you’re no good to anyone. Paying patients with real problems deserve better than to be your guinea pigs.
You should go back to the people you paid to teach you and ask them how to get set-up. If you are good, it’s going to take you something like three years to build yourself a practice. If you don’t have the resources to get you through those years you might want to think again.
Good luck.

Handbook of Cognitive Hypnotherapy for Depression An Evidence-Based Approach
This handbook is the first to provide a conceptual framework and rationale–based on scientific, theoretical, and empirical evidence–for combining cognitive behavior therapy with hypnotherapy in treating clinical depression. The conceptual framework–the Circular Feedback Model of Depression–allows clinicians to adopt an evidence-based practice in psychotherapy, integrating the best research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture, and preferences. The book offers detailed guidance in applying empirically supported principles of psychological assessment, treatment protocols, therapeutic relationship, and intervention.
Hypnosis and Treating Depression Applications in Clinical Practice

In 1992, Brunner/Mazel published the first book ever written on the subject of applying hypnosis in the treatment of depressed individuals. “Hypnosis and the Treatment of Depressions,” by Michael Yapko, not only withstood the test of colleagues previously dismissive of hypnotherapy’s value as a tool of treatment, but thrived in the face of it. The ideas and methods of the book overcome a previously skeptical audience and are now frequently taught at workshops and conferences by professional societies. In 2001, Yapko published a second book on the subject with Brunner-Routledge, “Treating Depression with Hypnosis,” which was later awarded the prestigious Arthur Shapiro Award from the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and named “the best book of the year on clinical hypnosis.” Now, Yapko proposes a book intended to diversify the range of topics to consider and increase the number of knowledgeable contributors on the subject of treating depression with hypnosis. The book will feature chapter contributions by experts on using hypnosis to treat specific forms of depression, with assessment and intervention strategies as well as sample transcripts of the use of hypnosis in therapy sessions. As a practical guidebook for clinicians looking to add to their treatment protocols, “Hypnosis and Treating Depression: Advances in Clinical Science “will provide an updated and comprehensive volume on therapeutic use of hypnosis in the treatment of depression.
Is hypnotherapy an efficient and successful career?
I like the fact that it deals with entering your unconcious mind and placing new and better ideas for better living. I want to be a certified clinical hypnotherapist for 2 reasons mainly. 1- to be able to apply hypnotherapy to the areas that need improvement in my life and 2- to help my family and friends get over experiences and mental barriers that stop them from acquiring their full potential.
Now, my question also extends to where can I become a certified hypnotherapist. I’ve been thinking of taking Steve G. Jones’ classes online. Also, can hypnotherapy be a successful career to to be financially happy?
In all honesty, you’re better off becoming a clinical Psychologist in cognitive behavioral therapy. Most psychoanalytic practices (including hypnosis) are becoming less and less respected by both the public and the APA/CPA. Job options, if any, would be very limited.
