How do I find a hypnotherapist who I can trust and who can genuinely do hypnotherapy in the UK?
In the UK, you should contact the International Association of Hypnoanalysts (IAH) – this is Europe’s largest and most prestigious hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis organization.
IAH hypnotherapists are trained to an exceptionally high standard in both clinical and analytical hypnotherapy. They are dedicated professionals and abide by a strict code of practice.

Has anyone ever been to a hypnotherapist/been hypnotised?
Was it to try and stop you from doing something, like smoking for example, and did it work?
I’m not actually trying to quit smoking it was just an example : )
My parents were hypnotized to quit smoking about seven years ago (I think). My dad had been smoking since he was 14 and my mom since she was 18 or 19 (with the exception of being pregnant) and they are still smoke free. I think it all depends on whether or not you can actually fall asleep.
My husband was hypontized a month ago as part of a show. The hypnotist told them that if you would refuse to do it under normal circumstances, that they wouldnt be able to make you do it while you’re hypnotized. For example, she had everyone get up and dance while under and he refused. So, I think all you need is to have a want to be able to do it and once hypnotized it’ll work.
Has anyone personally gone to a Hypnotherapist? What was your experience like?
I was thinking of trying one myself for a phobia I have. Would like to know any positive/negative experiences people may have had. Thank you!
I went to 2 Hypnotherapist. The first one for quite a few yrs I found the talking sessions were more useful than the Hypnotherapy. The Hypnotherapy was nice a relaxing but I don’t think it really helped. When I went there I was hoping she could make hypnotize me to forget my what had happened to me and the fear. I would try CBT Cognitive behavioral therapy or EFT Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT is kinda weird its tapping on the meridian points on ur body why tuned into ur phobia. Both r very good. It explains it a lot better at these websites.

Have you ever been hypnotized by a hypnotherapist?
If so, what was it like, and what were your results?
Well, I’m a certified hypnotist. Don’t tend to be on the hypnotized side of thing a lot, other than self-hypnosis, but have quite a bit with others. And each time I guide another, I also do hypnotize myself at the same time. (very common)
Many of the results have been very positive with people I have worked with.
As to what it’s like, it can be different for every person. Some people feel relaxed and heavy, other relaxed and light, yet others, normal and no different. It varies. Most that I have worked with are surprised how familiar it feels (they were expecting something completely different) almost like they were "spaced out", "daydreaming" on "in the zone."
Where can I find a good, cheap hypnotherapist?
A friend of mine claims its the best way to achieve real results with personal growth. I’m inclined to believe her but there’s got to be a ton of fakes out there, or just people who suck at it. I live in N.Cal in the east bay. Any leads at all would be helpful, thanks.
You may want to contact a Hypnotherapy Institute where people are still in training. These people probably need to do Internships. I think your fee would be reduced in this situation. I hope you find what you want. Good Luck.
Can you get degrees as a hypnotherapist?
Have just had an argument with someone, they don’t believe, indeed contemplate that you can get degrees for hypnotism, this is one for the uk.
one of my friends has been studying counselling and hypnotism and has a certificate to enable him to practice,my boyfriend and his friends pooh pooh this,I have known this person for the last 19 years I know hes not a liar, and I know he really wants to help people,he has a certificate saying he has passed and can use hypnotherapy in his treatments, have since been told there are no qualifications,is this true, and if so why?please, anxiously awaiting your reply.
People who are credentialed hypnotherapists are clinicians (mental health therapists) who receive advanced and specialized training as hypnotherapists. They can be from any mental health background- clinical social work, psychology, psychiatry (MD)). I trained for a specialization in hypnotherapy years ago. I am a licensed psychotherapist and relationship/dating coach.
