Yes, of course you, same as any therapy.

If you are aware that you have an issue, but you cannot name it then that can be the issue. But to go for fun or curiosity would be a waste of time.

Get a high quality psychologist who specializes in eating disorders.

You needn’t waste your time with hypnotists. The vast majority are no more than good entertainers.

Your condition is series, and potentially lethal. You need a REAL professional.

Here is the information I obtained from The National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists:
Mental Health Practitioners must have earned a graduate-level degree in any of the full spectrum of academic disciplines in mental health from a regionally accredited educational institution (medical practitioners must hold an appropriate Master or Doctorate degree ).

Categories include (listed alphabetically & non-inclusive): addictions and substance abuse counselors, chiropractors, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, pastoral counselors, psychiatric nurses, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, school counselors, and social workers.

All applicants have acquired a total of 60 or more contact hours of classroom instruction. A single basic hypnosis course of at least 18 hours which includes in-class supervised practice is needed as part of the minimum 60 hour requirement.

awful that happened to you in the past because it is making your life a living hell?

I wouldnt suggest it. Because it did happen, & thats the horrible part of life. I would suggest therapy or talking to someone, & reaching out, so sombody can help you.
Also theres a woman on myspace called Ask Amy, (even though her page says its for teens, she does help adults) & shes helped me, so much. I would suggest talking to her, b/c she could really help you.

Anxiety and being a little self conscious are 2 things which have plagued me throughout my life and I was wondering if anyone who suffered similarly used hypnotherapy to alleviate them and was it successful or not ?? Thank you.

Anxiety is definitely manageable but you need to find a therapist who has been well trained and belongs to a leading organisation. The issue of your insecurity may take a while longer to sort out but honestly you can beat this problem but you may need to give it some time. I have had some great successes with anxiety problems over the years, I also give clients a cd to listen to at home but to be honest,buying one from Boots or somewhere similar will not help really.

I don’t want a 7 day course, I want to fully be certiafied. I heard you need to have a degree in physcologyy before you can train as one. I was thinking of going to a university that actually has hypnotherapy, like university of new mexico. Any way i’m abit confused, any help?

A hypnotherapist is anyone who puts you into a hypnotic state. The classes to be a hypnotherapist are as little as a 100 hour course to be certified by the guild. (US)

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor.
