To All Hypnotherapists?

Have any of you had practiced GUIDED AFFECTIVE IMAGERY / SYMBOLDRAMA ?

How have you found the results?
Any links/sites/books etc?

Thank you

Pam

I taylor every Hypnosis Session, just for that Client. The answer is…yes, I use:

1.Guided Imagery
2.Kenistetic Imagery
3.Sence of Smell also helps.
4.Visualization, depending on the type of person.

Some people are more of the hearing type, than of the visual type, as you know.

Depends on what you are treating them PT. for.

What is the largest and most prominent organization for Hypnotherapy?

What organization (psychological and medical) has the most info and info on certified hypnotherapists?

Not sure what Country you are in, but for the psychological organizations, it would be:
http://www.apa.org/ and
http://www.apa.org/international/intlorgs.html

For medical, it would be:
http://www.ama-assn.org/

Has anyone found an alternative therapy a treatment for bulimia or other eating disorders?

I have bulimia. I would love to know if anyone has tried some alternative therapy treatment that has helped them. Hypnotherapists wont touch me due to my mental health issues and medication. Ive tried back massage and find it helps temporarily to relax more. I would love to try something else but i dont know whats out there for this eating disorder. Reflexology does nothing for me. I would love to hear of anyones suggestions. thanks

Try acupuncture. It won’t affect your mental health, but makes you feel more relaxed and will help with your eating disorder. I’ve just quit smoking by having acupuncture and my anxiety attacks have gone as well. I’m more relaxed and chilled out and able to handle things better. You could always try it and see how you get on. It doesn’t hurt – more a mild discomfort and you can feel the results immediately.

Is hypnotherapy a good way of giving up smoking?

I have heard that some hypnotherapists claim 80% success is this true?
Are there any good self hypnosis recordings available?

If you think that you are "open to suggestion" then go for it. This is not the same thing as not being argumentative. You could be the most argumentative S-O-B but still be susceptible to suggestion, at the same time you could be the most attentive and understanding person in the world but still not be susceptible to suggestion. You know yourself best so if you think that you have the right mindset then go for it. I have been to those public hypnotism shows before and they couldn’t crack my mind, so it’s just not for everyone. Good luck!

Should facebook have the right to veto advertisements about Clinical Hypnotherapy?

Facebook is potentially a valuable advertising channel for therapists, however in an arbitrary decision that hypnotherapy has no value, they prevent hypnotherapists from advertising their services. This despite the fact there are many research documents proving the value of hypnotherapy. Do you believe this is a fair decision from an informed publisher?

I think it’s fair, but only because Facebook is privately owned, so the owners should be able to do what they want. This is coming from someone who had depression successfully treated with hypnotherapy.

Does self hypnosis for breast enhancement work?

Ive heard of qualified hypnotherapists doing this out there, has anyone done it?

The Mythbusters on Discovery Channel tackled self hypnosis and they discovered that most of the time it was useless. Grant remained sea sick, and Kari didn’t grow or change anything. They found hypnosis worked for memory and for altering bad habits that had their origins on the mind, it didn’t work for anything else. Really…think about it carefully…how could it possibly work? Really? discard the hype and think logically. It’s impossible once you think the whole idea through. breast size has nothing to do with the mind:…it’s genetics.

Can hypnotherapy be good for defeating mental/emotional issues?

I looked at a hypnotherapists website, and he is claiming that he can fix so many emotional and mental issues, such as anxiety, stress, phobias, etc. Is that possible? If that is possible, then why are people still going to psychologists and psychiatrists?

Hypnotherapy can be good temporarily but Dianetics works very well. Check it http://www.dianetics.org

Is it possible to learn how to Blush in specific situations?

Is it possible to learn how to Blush in specific situations? Hypnotherapists state that they can help people to stop blushing using NLP/hypnotherapy. But where a person wants to blush instead of learning how to stop blushing, is this possible?. Or is it like trying to unlearn how to ride a bicycle? I am willing to be used as a guinea pig?
Serious answers only please.

i would guess that it would be a matter of learning to control your bodies natural reactions.

i know that i can make my heart race by thinking of certain things, whether that be arousal, fear, etc. i can make it happen – so if a person were to try to think of something to make them embarrassed or "on the spot" i would expect it would make them blush. although, some people’s pigmentation might not allow for the blushing to be seen.

i don’t know if you could "re-train" your bodies natural reactions to certain things that you would blush by experiencing that which would not normally make you blush. i think it is more realistic to attempt to think of things that might already make you blush in order to appear as though you are blushing at whatever situation you are in, in which you would want that to be seen as your reaction.

Hypnotherapy session for getting your Zzzzzs!

Well here it is, as some have requested…….hoping to help those with mild insomnia, ive created a session (off script) dedicated to putting the listener into a nice, peaceful, and most of all tranquil sleep that you deserve. i kept the music and my voice down as much as possible as to not scare the one being hypnotized for going to sleep into jumping,or waking up suddenly. hope i balanced it out right this time, and that it helps. i look forward to hearing good reports on this. enjoy, my friends!!!!
i put this under “people and blogs” because it doesnt fall under virtually any category!

I’m 19 years old, and thinking of becoming a hypnotherapist, I’ve done research. Is this a good career choice?

I’ve done research, I have an orientation set up. I am planning to get my psychology degree once I have gotten my hypnotherapy certificate. I just want opinions from individuals who know or are hypnotherapists. Thank You.

It totally depends on whether or not you are in an area that uses alternative health methods and whether or not you can get regular clientele. It’s a cool course though and comes in handy for years after you learn the techniques. Just don’t count on it as your sole income.
