Does hypnotherapy work for weight loss?
I would specifically like to hear from people who have tried it. I’m going to a free hypnotherapy session tomorrow. Never done it before, but I’m so curious. I know good old-fashioned will power is the best way to get rid of these pesky 20 pounds, but obviously will power alone doesn’t seem to be working for me.
Yes, for some individuals, there is a high degree of success, with others there isn’t. What is the best motivator to get you to do something? Money? Health? Being desired by others? Whatever your biggest motivator is, then use that to help you to lose the weight. I don’t know how you’re looking these days. They’ve done away with Yahoo 360 and other sites and I haven’t been to your profile lately (No time, lately nor do I have a home currently either. Still unemployed after 15 months, I’ve used up most of my savings and investments too), but if you like people to compliment you on your looks, physical shape, etc., then use that as the motivation.
I’d go to the free session. It’s always worth a look at. For me, pure will power and what others have said or do say has been the biggest motivator for my own weight, and my own concern to look attractive enough for the ladies and my own concern for my health as well.

Acupuncture or hypnotherapy for giving up smoking?
I have a very serious condition and need to give up smoking. I am considering trying both of these methods. Has anyone else tried them? If so which was the most successful and which would you recommend? I would like lots of serious answers please.
William T is the only sensible answer so far, they both work by placebo on about 20% of people.
The best way is free, go to your local GP, they have dozens of helpful hints on ways to give up this awful habit.
Me, I gave it up when James Callaghan was Chancellor of the Exchequer in Harold Wilson’s government, and on his last budget in 1957 he put a packet of 20 up to 5/- (25p) an unheard amount, I promised myself I’d never pay that much and I haven’t smoked one since, will power is still your best bet with a little help from your GP, especially if you already have a health problem.
Hypnotherapy to help me do some more exercise and loose weight?
I am considering having some hypnotherapy to give me the motivation to get off my big fat bum and do some exercises. I am the classic example of knowing what I should eat and do to loose weight but find the best excuses not to do anything about it.
Terrible I know, but I wanted to know what you all think. Is it worth it?
Hypnotherapy is a very powerful way of letting go of unwanted fat. It can do this by helping you change your eating habits and helping you establish a regular exercise routine.
It is true that most people know what how to lose weight – eat less and exercise more! Lack of knowledge is not the problem. Hypnosis works because in it you can communicate directly with your subconscious mind. That’s the part of your mind that can rationalize away all your good intentions to start exercising! Through hypnosis you change the programming to have it encourage you to exercise. Much easier this way than using sheer "willpower" (which never works in the long run).
You may try hypnosis for free if you would like to check this out. Download a free self hypnosis mp3 at http://www.ask-the-hypnotist.com and start using hypnosis immediately for this, or any other personal development project. Nothing to lose except unwanted weight:-).
Here’s to your success,

What is your opinion about hypnotherapy as cure?
Earlier I have posted a question on depression, however I thought about hypnotherapy as a probable cure. What is your opinion on the subject?
Just as a question, I will follow the advice and what I already know about curing it.
Hypnotherapy, in my opinion, is rather a subconscious therapy. Hypnotherapy is A light state of trance is closer to being awake, whereas a deeper level of trance is more like being in a dream.
During Hypnotherapy you cannot be made to do things against your morals, ethics or physical or mental capabilities. Although it’s been said many hypnotherapists take advantage of your conscious/unconscious state-of-being. but is still highly unlikely
This style of Hypnotherapy usually involves the use of a procedure referred to as "regression". Put simply, regression is "remembering past events that are locked in your subconscious". Sometimes an event in your past that has been long "forgotten" can still have an impact on your present, and by accessing your "memory banks" the Hypnotherapist (with your help) can often modify that memory, so it has less negative effects on your present and future. The depth of trance for this procedure is often (but not essentially) somewhat deeper and the levels of awareness may fluctuate as you "relive" certain memories. Regressive Hypnotherapy will usually involve conversation
I also believe that whatever problem you’re dealing with can, in some ways, be helped by that process, but others, you just have to take care of them yourself. not every problem is solved like magic, it’s more than just a snap of a finger and you’re fine. more complicated problems are more complex…
Best of luck friend.
I’m here for you if you need help.

Can you share any good or bad experiences you’ve had with hypnotherapy?
After hearing a story from someone who went to hypnotherapy, I’m interested in hearing more good or bad stories or insights.
I have had great experiences with hypnotherapy.
If you have a problem that you need to resolve, make sure you go to a hypnotherapist that will regress you to the cause not one that will merely places suggestions. Suggestions without regressing to the cause will work at first but since the underlying problem is still there, the suggestions eventually wear off.
Note: in hypnosis, you are not asleep or in a trance and you can never be made to do or say anything that is against your will. As a matter of fact, you are very alert (It is your conscious or thinking mind that is asked to "step aside" – this is very hard for some people who are constant thinkers and sometimes these people will not be hypnotized). The other thing to realize is that in order to be hypnotized, a person must be willing. If you are unwilling or made to go by a spouse, for example to quit smoking, it will not work.
What is your opinion about studying Hypnotherapy and Psychology simultaneously?
I am starting to practice as a Hypnotherapist, but do not have a Psychology degree yet, I am currently an undergraduate student of Psychology. I am hoping to find answers as to whether or not this is a good idea to pursue Hypnotherapy as a profession before I have a degree in Psychology. If no, what is your recommendation as to when I should start practicing? If yes, what is your opinion as to the best way to balance school and work (my private practice)? Plus, how would I deal with issues such as relocation because of transfering schools? Any other advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Yiu
I have completed over a year’s training in the applications of Hypnotherapy and am starting to practice as a Hypnotherapist, the only thing I do not have yet is a Psychology degree, I am currently an undergraduate student of Psychology. If no, what is your recommendation as to when I should start practicing? If yes, what is your opinion as to the best way to balance school and work (my private practice)? Yiu,
My opinion is that you must have a psychology degree and clinical experience. Hypnosis can uncover long buried trauma much more quickly than talk therapy. It is a good tool. But, you should be competent to help a client with any painful memories that are uncovered.
School should be your priority. If you must relocate, then, again concentrate on your education and look for opportunities to practice your skills in the school setting. Good fortune to you.
Could it be possible that this hypnotherapy MP3 is working ?
A few weeks ago I bought a hypnotherapy MP3 to help me boost my confidence toward women.
Today I was eating at a restaurant and my waitress was amazingly beautiful and I had no problem talking to her or similing etc.
Before I would be nervous and not be able to talk to a beautiful woman normally.
I always felt a little tense around women who are beautiful enough to be a model.
But, today I was actually talking and smiling around this gorgeous waitress like it was no problem.
Something worked–either the MP3 or your belief in the MP3 (placebo effect) who cares why but it worked!
Hypnosis video Hypnotherapy LIVE interview pain control on kfor4 tv news.
Medical Clinical Hypnotherapy for pain control and behavior modification. Real Hypnosis with no preconditioning. Anyone can be hypnotized. They say 5% are unable to be hypnotized. The truth is 5% just have to practice more than once. I’ve been using hypnosis since I was 9 years old for personal pain control. I’m good at it and can show anyone how to get into trance for a serious purpose and do something good with it. The word Hypnosis was coined by Dr. James Braid in 1841 after completing over 3000 surgeries with no chemicals and not one report of pain, Approved by the American Medical Association in 1958 after 117 years of study, Hypnosis is main stream now and is considered better than anything on the market for non-evasive pain control and natural behavior modification.
