Does hypnotherapy work to stop smoking?

I’m considering getting hypnotherapy to stop smoking. I’ve tried many times to quit but always fail. Have you ever had hypnotherapy to quit smoking and did it work for you? Thanks guys.

Depends, the old Psychoanalytic hypnotherapy works for a short while.
The Ericksonian therapy works for a long period.

Searching for not very expensive equipment for hypnotherapy cd’s?

I am starting a hypnotherapy practice, i am ready EXCEPT. i have no knowledge of how to make quick CD’s for my client to take home with them for reinforcement. Anyone know of any audio digital recorders or?? to process them easily and quickly?

How well will Hypnotherapy work for my anxiety disorder?

 

I am really interested, I’ve tried a lot of things, so far COG therapy has been the best, im a lot better than I used to be but I would like to compleletly rid myself of it. Any one with personnal experence would be great. Oh and please nobody saying “you can not get rid of anixiety”, I dont want to hear it, negative thinking like that is what keeps you from getting any better.

The primary use of Self Hypnosis is to take you back within yourself, to remove you from the clutter and distractions of your environment. Also do a google search on ‘Affirmations’. Affirmations are small but key positive messages to the self. They are used as reminders, helping to keep positive messages at the forefront of our consciousness. Not only is it important to regularly think these affirmations, it is a great idea to leave them lying around the place, where you will occasionally notice them. Looking at yourself in the mirror as you speak them very powerfully reinforces some.

The benefit of positive thinking is medically well established. Affirmations allow you to consciously harness the power of positive thinking and direct it to specific areas of your life that need attention or where you want to bring about change. The great news is that affirmations really work and can transform your life!

ever tried a hypnotherapy cd for calming driving test nerves?

have you ever tried a hypnotherapy cd to help you pass your driving test- is it worth doing? which one did you use?

It wasn’t for my test as I had already passed, but I used a Paul McKenna CD for my flying nightmares and it was a total success. I used to have to be dragged on to the aircraft and would spend the whole flight in hysterics. Now I love flying, even like to see the wings changing as we are landing. It has changed my life. Good luck. I think he does one for relaxing in difficult situations….

Is it true that hypnotherapy is only effective if used by a psychiatrist?

I’ve heard from an unreliable source that can only psychiatrists are good at hypnotherapy. That psychologists aren’t? Is that true.

Also can hypnotherapy can help to cope with a bad memory? My goal is NOT to erase the bad memory itself. Instead, my goal is to deal with it and eliminate all emotions attached to it. In my case, it would be a case of post traumatic stress disorder due to sexual harassment.

Strictly speaking, a person does not need to be either a Psychiatrist or Psychologist to be "good" at hypnotherapy. Depending on your state laws, a hypnotherapist could be independent.

That said, were I to choose purely by qualifications, I would choose the Psychologist. A Psychiatrist is an MD who has additional training in psychology–these are the folks who tend to resort to drug interventions for psychological issues. A Psychologist on the other hand is a Doctor of Psychology, so they tend to move toward counseling/talk type therapies, which would tend to include hypnotherapy, if that would be appropriate for you.

Of course there are truly excellent counseling Psychiatrists and there are incompetent Psychologists, so be sure you get a good feel for your Doctor/counselor no matter whom you choose. Check qualifications, specialties, and ask for references if appropriate.

Has my hypnotherapy for negative thinking stopped working?

After my first hypnotherapy treatment 3 days ago for anxiety and negative thinking i felt great – happy, positive and relaxed.

Now on the 4th day, i feel like it has stopped somewhat, and worries and negativity are creeping back in. One worry is that the hypnotherapy has stopped working. Having these thoughts in themselves must mean that is the case…?! (see the irony?) Do the effects of hypnotherapy wear off?

Give it time, you’ve only had one session. After you’ve had more, you’ll probably find the effects are longer lasting and that you can use some of the techniques on yourself to deal with your negative thoughts. Patterns of negative thinking aren’t undone overnight!

I’d suggest you buy some CBT-based self-help books, for extra tips that you can use yourself when you are at home. Large bookshops should sell them or you can get them on sites like Amazon.

Is it ok to take mind-altering drugs or drink while going through hypnotherapy (not during the sessions)?

I am currently going through hypnotherapy to treat anxiety/depression and am wondering if drinking/smoking marijuana or possibly taking MDMA(ecstasy) would be safe or undo my progress?

There is one special weekend coming up towards the end of my hypnotherapy and I might end up doing one of those. It would only be once.
What are you talking about I’m not going to drink and drive to the therapist?!?!?!

As a hypnotherapist I always at least ask clients if they are on any kind of medication or drugs (legal and illegal) and I work with the client and their needs. I have successfully treated many clients for anxiety, depression & drug use at my hypnotherapy practice in Sheffield.
I am not aware of any studies that have shown that taking drugs such as MDMA or cannabis interferes with hypnotic sessions but that doesn’t mean they can’t. I would recommend not doing anything over the weekend you are talking about. It may be a special night for whatever reason but if you are working on getting yourself sorted out it would be a shame to waste that effort and time you have put into you by getting wasted that weekend. There will be other parties I promise.
You have to be aware that the MDMA/cannabis etc could be partially responsible for your anxiety and depression. I also know that these drugs are often used to self medicate and it may feel like they help you cope with your condition whereas they may only be making it for the time you are on the drugs. Your mental state could be worse than it could be as the effects of the drugs wears off.
Unlike other answers on here I freely admit that you can have a great time on drugs and they are not the root of all evil and the scourge of human society. If drugs weren’t fun people wouldn’t do them! They do however have consequences and down sides that aren’t so fun for SOME people.
Have a look at the concept of "mindfulness" as it can really help with depression and you can learn it yourself from a book. Also try and leave the drugs for a while, at least until a week or two after you have finished your hypnotherapy programme to give the suggestions time to bed in and take effect.

How Do I Pay for Hypnotherapy?

I’m a teen, looking for a hypnotherapist in Chicago, hopefully that therapist can help me solve my problems. If I get hypnotherapy, does my AllKids(Chicago’s public health insurance) cover it?

you would have to find a therapist who takes ALLKIDS. Then find a hypnotherapist out of that group. Otherwise you may have to pay and hope to find somebody ona sliding fee scale. Or last contact hypnotherapy schools/institutes to see if they require supervised practice to be licensed or certified, That might be free,
