Have you ever made an appointment to see a hypnotist either to quit smoking, weight loss or phobias?
How did it go or do you think hypnotists are fake & prey on gullible people.
Yes. I made the appointment and then when I went there and found that the was running his practice from a converted garage on his personal property– I left after the consultation and never came back. He was creepy and came to this meeting wearing sweats and house shoes.

How can I become a hypnotist without buying something?

How does a stage hypnotist pick his participants?
I’ve seen stage hypnotisms on a number of cruise ships, and each time the performer will have about 20 people come on stage and select a handful for his demonstration. What is he looking for in these people?
There was one that came to my college and he chose people who stood out. One person was quiet and studied a lot, one person was a typical jock, and it wasn’t just someone who hung out with friends and wasn’t noticed much. They were very loud or very quiet, normally quiet, who would be made to do something they’d never do otherwise. And the people who were quiet would never do the things that they were made to do. One girl was made to ask each person if they had found her a$s. This is something she obviously would never do, as she didn’t even have the self-esteem to go up and talk to people normally.
The Hypnotist (2000)

As a rash of mysterious suicides plagues Japan, an astute police detective begins seeing a common thread that may run through them. The suicides, among them a case of an athlete running herself to death and a man who throws himself out a window right in front of his wife, who takes no notice, force the detective to consider the possibility that the victims have been hypnotized and put under the spell of subliminal suggestion. However, when the clues lead to a prominent entertainer, the detective must question the motive behind the killings and whether or not he may already be a victim.
