can any body tell me if hypnosis works please as im at the verge of a nervouse breakdown?

hi i have a hipnosis session tomorow for sleep,drinkng, worrieing and smoking. im depressed at this stage over it all. can anybody tell me if this works?

Take three deep breaths and slowly blow each one out and notice as you blow each one out you feel a bit more relaxed. Think for a while what you want the hypnosis to do. It is not some magic bullet but is is a way to change your thinking about what you want to change and if you wish to change you can change now or in a few minutes,as you choose. change now or a little later as you choose to change.
tonight when you go to bed reach down and pull up the covers and notice as you pull them up a nice wave of relaxation starts at your feet and comes up quickly-to match where the covers are. and when you are completely relaxed it is time to go to sleep. It will be a deep sleep that will leave you ready and able to cope with the work of the next day.

    My neurologist swears by it. Everyone that I know (that went…a couple people) claimed it worked. I don’t know because I haven’t made an appointment yet. I’d say it does?

    mmmm I did an english paper on it. Sounds very convincing to me, yes, I think it will. Just how it relaxes you and you just kinda ‘let go’.

    Try anything that may help. Why not join a Yoga class and learn to relax. Go swimming and do something creative to take your mind off smoking and drinking.

    It works for some people and not for others. The more you want it to work the more likely it is that it will.

    Yes it does does work. I know several people who went under hypnosis to stop their bad habits and such. Even though it was for only a single issue. But now they don’t smoke, over drink and some even lost unwanted weight.

    Like anything else, it will work better for some people than for others, but it has helped me in the past with insomnia and other issues.

    Hypnosis can definitely be helpful, but it’s not some kind of "magic bullet" that will utterly transform your life. Basically it helps you get into a state of deep relaxation when you’re able to listen, concentrate, visualize and recall memory more effectively.

    Meditation, relaxation techniques, conventional exercise, playing or listening to music, yoga, martial arts like tai chi, etc. can have a similar affect. Different people respond in different ways to these types of "treatment." Test them until you find the one – or combination of ones – that helps the most. I do well with relaxation techniques, intense exercise and journaling.

    I also can’t recommend journaling strongly enough: putting your concerns down in writing can really help to manage obsessive worrying, and it can also help you to identify things that trigger your anxiety, depression and counterproductive behaviors like excessive drinking and smoking.

    It can work. Some people are more suggestable than others, but if you are willing to give it a try, go for it. I don’t think you have to be "under" for it to work. Listen to the things being said to you and what they mean for you. I used it to get over a fear since childhood of needles. It really helped.
