How do hypnotists hypnotize people?

I have been and I am not sure how it all goes down. They take you to a relaxed state and it’s the power of suggestion. You focus, not unlike Lamaze or meditation, and then you kind of follow their lead.

I have heard that it all depends on your personality type–what method they use. Empathetic people are suppose to have an easy time being hypnotized and analytical people take longer and a different method is used.

By increasingly progressive relaxation suggestions. But in order for it to work, the individual has to be susceptible to suggestion. Some people are less susceptible than others.
